Mission Statement:

District 203 social workers serve as links between home, school, and the community. As members of the educational support team, they promote and support students' academic and social success by providing services that include:

  • Collaboration with community agencies on behalf of students and their families
  • Providing information and referral to community agencies and private therapists
  • Participation in prevention programs:violence prevention, conflict resolution, peer mediation
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Individual and Group Counseling
  • Social-developmental and adaptive behavior assessments
  • Assisting in the development of behavior intervention strategies
  • Parent education
  • Teacher consultation
School Social Workers help students to:
  • Improve interpersonal relationships
  • Cope with crisis situations
  • Develop self-discipline
  • Learn problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Resolve conflicts without violence
